COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO — Excel-Jet, Ltd., announced its Sport-Jet logged almost four hours as flight-testing began last weekend. First flights followed Excel's rapid installation of the FJ33-4A engine less than two weeks after delivery of the Williams engine.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO — Excel-Jet, Ltd announced it has completed the installation of the Williams FJ33-4A engine and run the powerplant through an initial test run. Earlier, Excel-Jet contracted to use the Williams engine, which is rated at 1,500 pounds of thrust at takeoff. Having achieved FAA certification in September 2004, the FJ33-4A is the only small fan jet engine presently certified by FAA. "Based on experience with other customers for their line of jet engines, Williams expected installation and test operation would consume three months," explained Bob Bornhofen, the designer and developer of the Sport-Jet. Of course, neither has the engine company experienced a "skunk works" style development team such as Bornhofen has assembled.

Swiss-based JetBird to launch new pan-European low cost executive jet service
São José dos Campos, May 3, 2006 – Embraer today announced that Geneva-based JetBird has acquired 50 Phenom 100 jets and has placed an option for an additional 50 aircraft. The contract allows JetBird to convert its positions into either the Phenom 100 or the Phenom 300.

Eclipse puts Eclipse 500 jets to the test as flight hours accumulate towards FAA certification
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — May 02, 2006 — Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the revolutionary Eclipse 500 very light jet (VLJ), today announced that the Eclipse 500 test fleet has amassed 1,700 total flight hours on the path to FAA certification, with 700 hours accumulated in the last three months alone. Completing testing at an unprecedented rate, the company projects it will achieve FAA certification by the end of this quarter and EASA certification by the end of the year.
