August 1, 2007, Bend, Oregon—Epic Aircraft booked more than $40,000,000 of new aircraft sales during this year’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Earlier in the year Epic released sales figures of more than $23,000,000 from the 7-day Sun ‘n Fun fly-in in Lakeland, Florida. The numbers come from signed contracts with nonrefundable deposits toward the purchase of Epic Aircraft. “We do very well at events like AirVenture and Sun ‘n Fun because pilots can actually see all the aircraft they are interested in, sit in them, compare them. Not just look at brochures, but the real deal,” Rick Schrameck, Epic CEO, said. “And in that kind of an apples-to-apples comparison, we’re going to do very, very well.” Much of the enthusiasm for Epic aircraft came from the company’s new very light jets, the twin-engine Elite and super sleek single-engine Victory. Both jets made their first public appearances on Monday, July 23rd, 2007 at AirVenture. “Pilots we’re talking to at these shows have actually done their homework and they see that these two new Epic jets actually deliver everything we all wanted the new VLJs to be—fast, modern and designed for single pilot operation.” Schrameck pointed out. “And the Victory jet sells for less than a million dollars. Why wouldn’t you want a Victory?” Also at AirVenture, Epic announced a new alliance with Pratt & Whitney. Owner-built Victory jets will fly in front of a PW615 turbofan, while the certified version of the singleengine Victory will upgrade to the more powerful PW617. The Victory can carry 4-5 passengers up to flight level 280 in pressurized comfort at a maximum cruise speed of more than 320 KTAS. Schrameck promises that the new Victory jets will be in the hands of customers before the end of this year. Both of the new VLJs are in line for certification behind the Dynasty, the six-seat turbo prop which Epic debuted at Oshkosh just four years earlier.
