Grob Aerospace Appoints Porsche Design Studio For Designing Its New Interior Print E-mail
Grob Aerospace announced today a long term partnership with Austrian-based Porsche Design Studio, a subsidiary of Porsche Design Group (Porsche Lizenz- und Handels-gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG). The Studio is designing fresh, contemporary interiors for Europe’s newest light business jet, the spn.

The design is inspired by the clean lines of high-end automotive interiors. It features the finest high-quality materials to create an interior that meets the highest standards of comfort and functionality for a new generation of business jet.

Customers will be invited to choose from two different interior layout concepts (Executive and Business) that suits their individual needs best – one majoring on first-class ergonomics and amazing comfort, the other more on outstanding convenience combined with versatility.

Grob Aerospace CEO Niall Olver, confirming the appointment of Porsche Design Studio as the designer of the cabin interior, said its team “fully grasped how we envisaged the cabin experience, in Executive and Business layout, to give the spn a really distinctive look and feel” This is the first time that Porsche Design Studio has designed the interior for a business jet of this class and it is delighted to put its mark on the German-built spn.

“It was a great honour to work with Grob Aerospace and create a unique and stylish look for the exciting new spn.  Its roomy passenger cabin is going to be easy to work around,” said Mr Roland Heiler, Managing Director of Porsche Design Studio. “We are seeing an increased interest, especially in the US, for an environment that combines elegance, comfort and functionality. Porsche Design Studio wanted to create a completely new atmosphere inside the aircraft instead of ‘just’ giving it a perfect look.” Grob Aerospace will be showing the first renderings of the new look at its booth at NBAA in Orlando (# 4257). It will have the first aircraft sporting the scheme by EBACE in Geneva, Switzerland next year.

The spn has a cabin cross section of 5ft 5in (1.64m) floor to ceiling, giving it the best in its class headroom with ergonomically enhanced seats for premium comfort and well being. The executive configured cabin, furnished in wood, soft leather, metal finishing and with luxury carpeting, features fully articulated seats. Lateral and longitudinal base tracking will release their full potential of ergonomic excellence on longer trips.  The business cabin offers equal comfort, with an emphasis on optimising space by providing passenger comfort.  This will be a comfortable cabin where working will be a pleasure.
