Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 23rd, 2007—Huge crowds were on hand this morning to see the Epic Victory jet and the Epic Elite jet make their world debut when they were unveiled in AeroShell Square at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture Fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. “The Victory and the Elite set the bar for Very Light Jets,” said a smiling Rick Schrameck, Epic Aircraft’s CEO. “VLJs are supposed to be state of the art, capable of single-pilot operation, and have jet performance. These two aircraft are all of that and more!” The twin-engine Elite jet made its maiden flight in June, while the single-engine Victory’s initial flight followed only a month later. Both first-flights for the pair of new VLJs were powered by Williams International FJ-33-4 FADEC engines. Owner-built versions of the Victory Jet will fly with Pratt & Whitney 615 turbofan later this year. The Victory will be certified with the PW617 FADEC engine, which delivers 1,615 pounds of thrust to significantly improve the aircraft’s cruise and climb performance. The Elite will continue through certification with the Williams FJ-33 Jet engines. The all composite Victory jet was a ‘clean sheet’ design only six and a half months ago. “The folks at Williams International worked tirelessly with us to get the Victory up and flying in that record amount of time,” Schrameck said. “They are an amazing company to work with.” Customer deliveries for the Victory will begin before the end of the year at a price of less than one million dollars. A large-scale wind tunnel model of the Victory was unveiled three months earlier at the Sun’n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, FL. That design, along with the new Escape, a 365 KTAS single-engine turboprop, helped propel Epic Aircraft to a record $23,000,000 in new sales during the seven day event. Schrameck referred to AirVenture 2007 as Epic’s first ‘Family Vacation.’ Joining the Victory and Elite jets on display at Oshkosh is the original Epic LT, the 1200hp Pratt & Whitney PT-6 turboprop which itself debuted at Osh only three years earlier, and its twin, the Epic Dynasty, now in certification testing.
