Epic AIR Sneak Previews Two New VLJs Print E-mail

Lakeland, FL, April 17, 2007—Epic Aircraft, which made its name building aircraft with ‘Epic’ performance, continued its full court press on conventional aircraft manufacturers when it unveiled TWO NEW Very Light Jets on the opening day of this year’s Sun N Fun air show. In front of a standing-room only crowd, the company showed off its new Escape, an ultra-high speed single-engine turboprop, and the Victory, a single-engine very light jet.

“VLJs, get out of the way!” Epic CEO Rick Schrameck smiled. The Escape, which shows a family resemblance to the remarkable Epic LT and Dynasty, is expected to cruise at a whopping 365 knots, and the James Bond-like Victory jet will push 320 knots at FL280. Both of the new VLJs will come to market at less than a million dollars.

Schrameck went on to say that he expects to fly the Victory jet into this year’s AirVenture at Oshkosh, a mere seven months after it began as a clean sheet design. Epic made a similar announcement in 2003 at Oshkosh when Schrameck displayed mere artists’ concepts of a new six-seat, pressurized turboprop he called the Epic LT. Twelve months later, he flew the completed aircraft into the 2004 AirVenture. At today’s unveiling, Schrameck went on to promise that at least 6 of the new Victory jets will be delivered to customers before the end of 2007.

“Focused implementation of aircraft designs is Epic’s history,” Schrameck reminded the press. “If we say we’re going to do something, we do it. Period.”

Last year, Epic announced the Dynasty, a certified version of the impressive Epic LT. The aircraft will be the first project to enter the newly-formed Canadian Centre for Aircraft Certification at Springbank Airport, west of Calgary Alberta, Canada. The CCAC will offer a streamlined certification testing alternative for airframe manufacturers seeking CAR and FAR 23 certification. The CAR and FAR regulations are nearly identical, and the two countries share reciprocity agreements.

The Epic Dynasty has logged more than 2000 hours of test flights and is scheduled to complete certification next year. The Elite jet, Epic’s new twin-engine VLJ, will enter certification testing this summer and is expected to come to market by 2009. An experimental version of the Elite will be available later this year.
