As industry leading very light jet nears certification, first customer aircraft soars and production line readies 10 aircraft for delivery
ALBUQUERQUE, NM — July 23, 2006 — Today Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the revolutionary Eclipse 500 very light jet (VLJ), announced the maiden flight of its first customer aircraft. An eager crowd of Eclipse employees gathered to witness the successful flight of the first Eclipse 500 production aircraft with John Keiser as Pilot in Command. This jet flew for 1.5 hours while reaching Mach 0.62 and climbing to its maximum altitude of 41,000 feet. All systems were operated multiple times without any flaws.

On Saturday July 15th, as the grand finale to the night's gala dinner, Diamond unveiled the newest member of its exciting fleet - the D-JET personal light jet. During dinner, guests enjoyed presentations from Phil Boyer, AOPA President as well as Matt Huff, VP Business Development at Williams International and Gary Kelley, VP Marketing at Garmin. After dessert, the over 500 guests watched and applauded with excitement as Christian Dries, CEO of Diamond Aircraft, taxied the D-JET into the hangar, jumped out the aircraft door and announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, that was a small jump for mankind, but a giant leap for Diamond Aircraft and me."
