GROB Light Jet premiers officially in Germany Print E-mail

GROB SPn takes off during ILA 2006 - First public Show Flight

Double premiere at ILA 2006: The German designed and manufactured GROB SPn light jet today made its public exhibition debut in Germany and it first ever flight at an Air Show.

During the 2005 Paris Air Show in June 2005 the GROB SPn was unveiled by GROB Aerospace to the public for the first time. The first prototype aircraft's maiden flight quickly followed on July 20th 2005 before entering flight testing.

The GROB SPn is on static display available for viewing throughout the ILA Show days, positioned between flights in front of the GROB Chalet (# 40). The new full scale Executive interior option cabin mock-up is on display at the same location.

EBACE 2006 - Significant buyer interest and new aircraft enhancements

Manufacturers GROB Aerospace, based in Tussenhausen-Mattsies (Southern Germany), and ExecuJet Aviation Group, exclusive worldwide sales distributor based in Zurich (Switzerland), were extremely satisfied with the great level of interest in the GROB SPn at EBACE 2006 (European Business Aircraft Convention & Exhibition) in Geneva earlier this month.

At EBACE, GROB exhibited the second prototype airframe and announced a six-seat Executive interior option, the enhanced Honeywell APEX avionics suite and further new options like APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) and EVS (Enhanced Vision System). The second prototype will make its maiden flight in July, with the first fully-equipped pre-production aircraft entering the final phase of testing in early 2007. Fitted with a full interior and major avionics options, the third aircraft will be used for reliability testing and as a final certification platform.

The GROB SPn has already successfully completed testing of major flight envelope parameters. The emphasis of flight testing since the first flight has been on performance, systems development, and flight envelope expansion. Some of the most important tests covered so far have been field performance, stalls, ice shapes, flying to 41,000 ft. and maximum speed (Vmo). In each, case GROB has been extremely satisfied with results which have met estimates calculated prior to first flight. A notable achievement is an improved landing distance at maximum weight, which is now reduced by almost ten percent to 2670 ft. / 814 m. Furthermore; tests confirm that no major modifications to the airframe configuration are required to achieve certification

Jet-performance and comfort with the operating flexibility of a Turboprop

The GROB SPn has been designed to combine performance and comfort of a jet with the operating flexibility of a turboprop. With six passengers and one pilot, the GROB SPn will fly an impressive 1,800 nm (3334 km). It holds a maximum payload of 2,491 lbs (1130 kg) which substantially exceeds any business jet below midsize. Beyond impressive range and payload capabilities, the GROB SPn has a Balanced Field Length (BFL) of 3,000 feet (914 m). It is specifically designed for hassle free regular operation on "unimproved" runways which are usually the exclusive domain of turboprops and are often comprised of gravel or grass surfaces.

Inside, a total cabin volume of 405 cu. ft (11.5 m3) incorporating a cabin height of 5 ft 5 inches (164 cm) and a choice of standard eight or six seat configuration provides unmatched passenger comfort among light jets.

Honeywell avionics - Williams engines

As the largest private jet to be certified for single-pilot operations, the GROB SPn is equipped with the state of the art and newly improved Honeywell APEX integrated all glass cockpit which sets new standards for simplicity, reliability and technology. Propulsion consists of two rear mounted FADEC controlled Williams J44-3A engines with 2,800 lbs (1270 kg) of thrust, and a proven track record from use in many of today's leading light jets.

ExecuJet Aviation Group - World wide sales distributor

ExecuJet Aviation Group (www.execujet.net) is the exclusive world-wide sales distributor and maintenance support partner for the GROB SPn. Swiss based, ExecuJet is a leading global business aircraft sales, service and support provider with associated operational and maintenance facilities in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia and Central America
